Well done, Koko Master!

I Charge N10m For Collaboration From The People I Don't Love- Wizkid

Popular Nigerian Hip-hop sensation, Wizkid, has set the records straight!

The 24-year-old Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, who is a Nigerian recording artist, songwriter and performer has made it known in an interview that he is expensive.

The singer who started his musical career at age 11, releasing a collaborative album with Glorious Five entitled Lil PrinzIn in an interview with TheNETng earlier this week, made it known that he charges N10million for musical collaborations with artistes he doesn’t love but does it for free with the ones he loves.
“I charge N10million for collaboration but I don’t charge the people I love. (but) I don’t pay for collaborations because I am confident of myself”, the superstar said.
It would be recalled that just few days ago, an upcoming singer, Saeon took to her Instagram page to call out a particular ‘big’ artist she recently featured in one of her songs.

Saeon who is obviously unhappy with the ‘certain’ artiste made it known that she paid him N1.5million to feature in her song and was hoping he would help her promote it online because of his massive following but she said she didn’t even get a retweet from him. She however did not mention the name of the  ‘certain artiste’ but everyone knew she was talking about Wizkid.
When Wizkid was asked about his collaboration with singer Saeon, who is not happy that he failed to help promote her song despite paying him N1.5m, Wizkid didn’t deny collecting the money but said he made the song a hit. In his words:
“I made ‘Boogie down’ song a hit, I did the song out of love from my heart.’
It would be recalled that just few days ago, Wizkid’s former producer, Samclef, made, noting bitterly how he thinks Wizkid is an ingrate. The report which Wizkid replied immediately, saying he loves Samclef no matter what he has said.

Musical Artist Beware! The following may initially upset and frustrate you but you need to read this all the way through!

If this sounds familiar to you, you are not alone! This is what I hear from almost every artist that contacts me and wants me to help them. How do I fix this scenario so the artists become more successful? I work with them on the following.

1. This is your passion.

As artists the first thing we have to do is stop taking the rejection we receive as something personal. Instead of learning from what we are not doing to effectively tell people about the messages in our songs, we see them not paying attention or not wanting to hear our music as a personal attack. This includes the media not wanting to write about us or our upcoming shows or play our songs on the radio to people not coming to shows or even if they do, not wanting to buy your CD afterwards. The first step in solving the problems mentioned here is to stop doing what you are doing.

Throw away your press kit and one sheet that “supposed” publicists and radio promotion people think is right (but only signifies you as a non-priority that people can ignore) and create an Artist Profile. One that talks about who you are as an artist and what your music is about. Two, use what’s in your Artist Profile at shows. Don’t play the same shows as before, give people you. 45 minutes of music is not going to motivate people to buy CDs. Learn to interact with them before, during and after your shows.

2. Reconnect with the reasons why you wrote the songs.

What inspired you to work that crappy day job and save money to record these songs in the first place! What motivated you to keep going when it looked like you wouldn’t get the project done? Where did that go? Nowhere. It’s still inside of you! Just waiting for you to bring it out.

3. To reactivate your passion and inspire you to stop sitting around and making the same mistakes, we must change your focus.

You will now focus only on the things that will get people to shows, get you exposure in your home city and generate sales. First, a new specific marketing plan that will focus on how to double your fan base that actually comes to shows. Second, a small list of daily actions you can take with the limited time you have to promote your music. For example, researching the media in your home city and what are they writing about or what they are playing on the radio these days. Who is drawing most of the music fans in town to their shows and how are they doing it? You must focus on the things that will work right now. Mailing CDs around the country where you can’t put them in stores, play shows or won’t get enough attention that it will generate any online sales either isn’t.

4. Interrupt your pattern.

If you can’t think of new ideas sitting at home then do what successful people do, leave. Go to the gym (another place you promised to go to); go outside, to a coffeehouse, the park or go play golf instead. Change your environment and you will begin to remember what inspired you to take this path.

If elected, I will not go into office with blonde hair - Tony Tetuila

"I am not going into office to sing, though I am an artiste, I am going to serve my people. I am not going to office with the tinted hair. I was discussing with some youth leaders who said I could leave the hair but now that people are speaking on it, I have to do what my people want" he told tribune. I only used the blonde hair to campaign because everybody knows Tetuila with that trademark" he said
Tetuila went further to state that he is not venturing into politics because he is broke
"How can I be broke? I am not broke, everybody knows where I am coming from. I am not going into politics for the fun of it. We artiste always sing about poverty but rarely do anything about it. If you know songs like "prayer for Naija" and "e go better", you will see that we only complain but we don't do anything about the suffering. We want Nigerians to live a better life. What I am going to deliver matters and not the hair" he said

9ice says he plans to quit music for politics

In an interview with Sun News, 9ice says he plans to quit music to concentrate fully on politics because he can't be singing at 35. He can't? What he said below...

Yes, I want to leave music for politics. Next year January, I will be 35-years-old and I’m not praying to still be in music at that age. I am serious about politics now. If you listen to my music, you would notice that politics has been part of me; it’s in my blood. When I started initially, I talked about being your brother’s keeper, and that’s why I studied Law at Lagos State University before I dropped out to concentrate on my music career. I hate when things go wrong. When two or three people are having issues, I love to get there to settle their differences. I have passion for politics and it has always been in my blood."
If you go fully into politics, most of your friends and fans will miss you?
I will say they will love me more by the time they see the plans that I have for them. I have so many plans on my mind. Imagine if the late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was a politician, he will not just criticize the mistakes of our leaders but also correct them. Imagine if Wole Soyinka was to be the president of this nation, people like him are only preaching the truth and criticising the government but they are not ready to get into politics to make corrections. I am tired of preaching, I want to contribute my own quota for the sake of my people. We have graduates riding commercial motorcycles (okada), selling meat etc, their certificates are not being used but they are shouting that the government is not doing well. There can’t be any change if the youths don’t stand-up now to do something to help the country.
